Years ago I put together a set of center caps to have something "different". I used the '67 flat center caps and instead of the normal small center emblem, I used the spinner off of a mid sixtys Chevrolet wire wheel cover. They used the same screws and the holes lined up perfectly. They looked really good on 8" wheels and with the bowtie on them, they looked like a factory piece. I had quite a few people ask what model car they came from. I too like to keep my cars original looking, but sometimes you just want something different and that was something you could change back very easily. The spinners I used were repros of the factory part from a company called Clarks Corvair Parts. I doubt they still exist but maybe someone else makes them. Those wire covers were offered in 14" and 15" on Impalas, Camaros, Corvairs, Chevelles, and Novas.
P.S. I just Googled Clarks Corvair Parts and they are still around and still offer the spinners!

As I said earlier this is a idea. Thanx loguinho for posting your picture. My '68 is yellow also and your pic does look haven't decided if I will do it yet but I.............think............I like it. Will have to let it grow on me for awhile before I decide. Your picture is now my background on the comp.

Hi Shmoky,

this might be a stupid question, but are the spinners in 1 piece or do you have to put them together, and if so, is it easy to do??

Jim, the spinners are a 1 piece and attatch the same as the original center cap. As mentioned before Willcox has them and there are 3 different styles: straight chrome, fluted swept chrome and plain swept chrome. Here is a link http://willcoxcorvette.com/advanced_...ywords=spinner if this doesn't work just do a search at willcox for "spinner".

Hope this helps.

I believe what he is refering to is an illusion. There is too much "beauty" in your rings...lol

When you look at your pic., your rings are so shiny and deep the red reflects and it looks like you have another smaller, thin ring on there.

See what I/We mean?
