Default Master Cylinder Question

About 18 months ago I started a body off frame restoration. Shortly before I started the project I put a new master cylinder in the car. I am almost done and will be driving in a few weeks (hopefully). Since the master cylinder has been sitting for 18 months, should I resue it?

thanks

Has it been left dry (no brake fluid in it)? If so, just inspect it for rust. If it appears to be OK, just put some brake fluid in it and actuate it a few times to make sure the valve is still free to operate. If all that goes well, it should be fine to re-use.

Yup, you would be surprised how many years parts get stored on the shelf they call, "new". As long as the rear seal isn't leaking, I'd say you're good to go.
