Can't tell you if this is good or bad, you'll have to make that decision for yourself. Over the years, I've traded away some cars that I would sure like to have back, but I have also traded away some cars that I hope to never see again.

We normally end up trading away one problem to inherit a new one. Just keep that in mind while you think things over. Good luck!

To me 1969 Mustang is THE ultimate Muscle car looks-wise. Go for it!

I hear the suspension and steering on those is really bad, suspension borrowed from the falcon, that being said, it's a whole lot more of a classic muscle car then a '78 anything. I would do it, depending on condition. Suspension issue could be mitigated..... gotta be a package.

If you can find someone dumb enough to trade a '69 Mach1 for any Corvette after 1973, DO IT!

the suspension in the rear cant be anywhere near as involved as the vete is. Id say take a good hard long look at the mach! you may find that a much better choice in the end! id say go for it. especially if its that hot mach 1 blue color!!!

A 69 Mach 1 in any decent shape has to be worth a lot more than a 78 Corvette. Of course, I already have a 69 Mustang, but, if I were offered that deal, I'd be putting that Mach in the garage. Is the Mach a 351W, a 390 or a 428 Cobra Jet? The fifth position in the VIN will tell you. The codes are H=351W 2V, M=351W 4V, S=390, Q=428 C.J. and R=428 S.C.J. (the one with the ram air). To clear up a couple of misconceptions stated here, the cool mach 1 blue color was Grabber Blue and it wasn't available on the 69. As regards suspension and steering, by 1969 the Mustang Boss 302 was successfully competing in the TransAm racing circuit. The "Falcon" steering and suspension didn't seem to be a problem.

I would trade in a heart beat, bud. The Stangs suspension are very different, than the vettes, but they have upgrade kits,or get a copy of the Bud Moore spec sheets for the 69 Boss 302 he raced in the Trans Am series, and build to those specs.I've had over 30 70,and older Stangs, and most were fastbacks.
They are very cool cars, and the 69 sportsroof was the most desired body style of any muscle car. They are valuable cars.
R= ram air(shaker hood)...available w/the CJ,or SCJ.The SCJ cars are drag pak cars w/oil cooler,and 31 spline nodular rearends.
The 69 blue was acapulco blue metallic.Besides the black cars...my favorite was the gulfstream aqua metallic.
Cool cars.......get it!!!!!!

It's Really hard to tell, but i would never trade my Vette for a ford unless there was positive value and the Ford could be sold immediately for a nice profit.

From a valuation perspective with both cars in comparable condition, the 69 Mach I should be worth more on the open market....mostly because there are less of them available....

You are killing me here.A Vette for a Ford.I can't tell you how bad that sounds.BUT.Muscle cars have been a hot seller and '69 Mach 1's are certainly sought after. It's your choice ,but I'd grab the Mustang.

you never said it was a straight trade, but if it is, trade, put a little bit of sweat equity in the mustang, sell it and buy two 78 Corvettes.

If you don't trade then give his # and I'll be happy to go buy a nice '78 to trade him in place of yours. '69 Mach I is da bomb and people are still getting $10k for a rustbucket version that needs full restoration. I don't care if was made by Ford or Datsun for that matter just look at it and if can't see the the muscular thing of beauty in that car then you're delusional and obviously need help. DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not product loyality however I do love my Corvette.

With that said, I've had (3) Mustang Fastbacks,
one of which was a 1969' Mach I in 1979 with a
rare option package - 428 SCJ motor with the shaker hood
and I must say, I wish I had the car today.

Back then, it was a 10 year old car. No big deal.
I had that mind set then, not any longer. If I would have
kept all of the classic muscle and sports cars since I was a kid,
I would be retired and living the high life.

If someone is willing to trade even up or with you giving a
couple of grand and it runs and is in at least as good of shape
as your car and the VIN verifies it as being a Mach I, not just the
decal on the rockers and on the hood, do it!
