Default My 69Vett Project !

Ok I purchased this Project in boxes,
with lots of parts missing from the begining.
I already knew about this Fourm, and joined Immediately,
when I purchsed the pile of parts in July 2007.
I would like to Thank all the members on this fourm,
I could not have completed this project with support and parts from Everyone. it will still take about another year to complete everything.
This was a complete Frame-Off, I searched for a reasonable painter and finally just painted it my self ! ..... so on to the pictures !
69VETT

This is how I found the 69, Not my Garage !

The Firewall had seperated from the Bird-cage, only 1 way to fix it right !

It took 6 guys to Lift and carry the bare body, and gently set it down on the chasis, no problem.

The paint color is 74 Corvtte Silver Mist,
I used Dupont ChromaBase, with SPI Epoxy, and SPI Clear Coat.

A big "Thank you" to all the Corvette Forum Members !

I have tons of pictures, just holler if you need any specific pics.
Now I am going back to work on the 69VETT !
I just figured out we are limited to 25 pictures !

Beautiful! I love threads like these! Did you rent a booth to paint it in?

Nope, I did everything right at home in my Garage.
I emptied out, and cleaned out the garage, then covered the walls in plastic sheet.
I installed a cheap fan to pull negative pressure thru a couple ac/ filters.
biggest thing to watchout for with painting is preparing your compressor,
with filters to insure no water, gets to your paint gun.

69Vette..........................

I have everything needed to do as you did...paint it myself. I do need a good gun at a reasonable price. What gun did you use and any issues with it?

Thanks...Alex

Great job! And silver is a tough color to spray too. It's so heavy with the metallic in it it's very difficult to not get any sags. From the pics, I say you figured it out just fine. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Why did you look for a painter? When you new how to paint all the time. You did a great job. There is nothing like saying I painted the car, when someone asks who painted it. And when you say you painted it in your garage, just wait for the responses. Believe me I know, I did mine in my garage.
