ok, this took a bit longer then i expected, but its almost finished and i wanted to show it off. i started this in early February.
i completely rebuilt the front suspension (did the rear end last year) changed the harmonic balancer, timing chain, and gears, and did a bit of cleaning and painting. the motor never came out, and the power brakes didnt come out either.
just click on the image to enlarge, and again on the page that pops up to see full size.
My son and I did this job 3 yrs ago. It was hard to pick a place to stop.Once you clean one part up, the rest look bad. I was afraid if we kept on going we would end up doing a frame off!
Looks great! Did you paint the whole engine while it was still in the car?
We did and it also turned out pretty darned good!

i did. if i had pulled the engine, i would have ended up rebuilding it, completely stripping the fire wall, replacing everything on the fire wall, so on and so forth.
i had to make the same call as you. where do i stop? it could go on forever.
good news for me. i had it running today, first time in 6+ months. everything ran fine. i was worried i screwed up the timing chain, or had something slip down the intake or lifters.
hopefully ill be back on the road come this time next week.
