Default Help With Door Handle Pulls

Replaced broken door lock on my vet, replaced door pannel, know I can not get the door handle pull to go back on the door. The top hole is about 1/2" the right of the hole. Called Walcott and they said that the screw goes in at a angle. Is that correct, if not how does it go back on????:

Usually I try to adjust the panel by sliding it forward/backward til I match it with the hole, and Wilcox is correct, its at a slight angle.

Hi A,
Can you drill a new hole in the metal door frame to accept the handle's mounting screw where it is on the new door panel?
Regards,
Alan

the top hole is drilled into an area that is angled at about 30*, so that the rear most part is depressed into the door frame. hold the screw driver perpendicular to the door, then move the handle toward the rear of the car. that's the angle you'll need. if the holes don't line up, just drill and tap a #10 hole. chances are, the old threads are weak and won't hold properly. the bottom screw is at a 90* angle.

It's a 1969, I removed the door pannel and did not change anything else, The holes match up except for the top hole on the pannel. The funny thing is it worked before. Thank you all for your help, will try again to get it right.
