I lost the dash lights on my 69. I thought I would check for suggestions on where to look, before I spend hours or days tracing wires. Headlights and taillights work fine.
The rheostat on the HL switch that allows the dash lights to dim can be very flaky. Have you tried wiggling and turning the HL **** to see if the dash lights come on or flash on and off? There was a thread some time back telling how to replace the rheostat on a Corvette HL switch.
Pete
The dash lights are connected directly to a terminal on the Headlight switch. With a voltmeter probe there, you should see a voltage. If the dash lights still don't come on there's a ground problem or a open in the the main firewall harness.
You have to have the tach/speedo panel pulled open to do this.

Maybe you should tell us what all you have done so far and we can go from there.
if you have a volt meter or test light, with the dash pulled out, test for 12 volts at the bulb, with the lights on. (the Gray wire) if 12V then you have gnd problem,
If NO... you have a 12 volt supply problem coming from the headlight switch, or Instrument Fuse/or holder. (Most likely a Gnd problem) each gauge cluster must be Gnded.)

My experience with dashes has taught me that these clusters are well grounded. It's the 12 V source thats gone out and we know his switch has it, but none of the bulbs, so I would start looking at wire from the switch to the lights. I was able to take mine out out the rheostat and plug it in a different switch terminal since I have leds.
