Well here is to 1 step foward 100 back.

It all started with a square nut on the radiator/hood hinge support. I was trying to install a ground wire for my dual Spals well it wouldn't go because it was stripped! Well out cam the radiator and a new support on order. I ended up ordering an after-market part that did not fit and was poorly made. As you can see from the pic below I tried everything to no avail. So I ended up ordering a NOS part that fit like it should.

Then I had this thought in the back of my head that bugged me enough. Out came the engine. I wasn't happy with rattle can job on the fresh rebuild so I decided to repaint the engine using POR15. I eventually pulled the intake manifold off just to get a better job and glad I did because I noticed something that the re-builder either missed or was lazy about. I'm not sure what it is called but it is a piece of stamped metal tacked to the underside to channel exhaust gas under the carb. Well I pulled that off a scrapped out an insane amount of nasty carbon build up

Needless to say I am really happy with how the POR15 turned out!

Well with the engine out of the way. Why not paint the firewall and engine bay, something I never hope to do again. I'm still not happy with how it turned out but enough is enough

Also out came a few rusty parts

Now the engine goes back where it belongs and now off to the interior and maybe one day get this thing started!!!!!!

Here's to death by while your at it

P.S. Comments welcome if you see something that I missed.

"Well with the engine out of the way, why not paint the firewall and engine bay?"

That's called a serious case of 'while i'm at it-itis'

Mine started with just a new rear spring and some brakes. I guess i don't mind the fiero seats, aluminum heads and sub in the back now, though

Something about these cars..?

Looks nice!
Can't wait to take my engine out to freshen it up, and paint the firewall and engine bay and redo the front suspension myself. I'm jealous!

It's a good thing you weren't trying to do something difficult like changing a tire! God knows where you'd be then!

you painted the harmonic balancer, make sure you can find the timing line! I would get the paint off the balancer and timing tab.

Mine started with a Holley that needed new gaskets.
It's only time, and money, and blood....

Good point. I was planning on using one of those timing tapes on the balancer. I will definitely have to paint the marks on tab though.

Hmmm, I'm going to have to check that. I'm pretty sure it was the original that got painted inside and out.
