I'm getting ready to tighten down the body mounts for good and I'm wondering how important the shims qty's are. I've replaced the rear steel mount brackets, I have a new 1-pc Vanacor front clip yet to be mounted, I have the doors off and all new cushions & fasteners. Should I just space out the qty that came with the mount kit and crank down the bolts?
I know I will have to set all the gaps anyways. Is it just critical to match the spacing if you have the whole body still together? Also, I believe the clip is longer in the F/A direction so I may have some room to modify and "set" the front door gap after I lock-in the rear door gap. Right?
Ya I did but they are all rusty, broken and unusable. The old rubber cushions were practicaly dust themselves. I've hung the doors temporarily and added the seats just to add a little weight in the right spots.
I kept track of the shim counts but when it cam time to reinstall,
I put 2 shims under the 4 inner cabin mounts, (which are not reachable with body on)
then added 1 or shims to the front and rear mounting points as needed,
which was dictated by the gap, then I added a shim or 2 to make the weight evenly distributed on all body mount points. 69VETT

That's a good point. I'll do the same and start with the two shims under the four mounts - lock them down. Shim the two rear, and then the fronts.
