Default ZZ4 Header Advice

I have a '70 with a ZZ4 engine, VB&P rack and pinion steering, and factory side exhaust. The side pipes are getting a bit long in the tooth so I'm thinking of replacing the rams horn manifold with some block hugger headers and installing new pipes and mufflers. Looking for some advice on what others have used and is there any advantage to using the big block mufflers over the small block or is there a better way to go.

Thanks, Jim

Jim, I have been running Patriot 'D' port block huggers for a couple of years with factory style side pipes. Because the header/exhaust connector geometry is different from the original rams, it took a muffler shop 20 minutes to fabricate some new ends for my side pipes. I have had them on now for two years and they work great....I highly recommend them.

You will see some pictures of them here ZZ4 Install

Thanks Binnie - that 's what I'm leaning toward.

Don't have sidepipes, but, have a ZZ4 in my 70 with Headman headers. Headmans have D shaped ports that match the ZZ4's D shaped ones.
Tight fit but mine are fine.
Also, have a Jeep power steering kit.

I have an '80 with a ZZ4. No rack and pinion, but my Hooker SuperComp's fit fine.
