Well, it's a start. when do I ever stop spending on this hobby? I have now started building an addition for the addiction to my current shop to serve as a garage for my 69. Plan to epoxy the floor in black and white checkered patters, AC/Heat, work desk/bench, fridge, wash basin etc.
This garage has a slanted roof (see pic) that is 11' on one side down to about 9' on the low side. Overall it is 16x30'. Do you think this will accomadate a four post lift??
Pic of progress: Next weekend - metal on outside, insulation and inside walls. maybe electrical as well.
Wedged into the high side of the building, your four post lift will get the car about five feet off the ground. A peeked roof with the lift in the middle and a steeper pitch would get you the lift. Maybe you should put the lift in the existing shop?
Either way, I'm jealous as heck. I started to clean my garage out for the upcoming winter months so maybe I can get some work done finally. The Nova needs quarters and paint, the Chevelle needs to be completely re-skinned and painted, and the 'Vette needs to have the snow and ice kept off of her.
Plenty of room in the existing shop but i want to keep it out of there. Too much other "junk" in there. i use it mostly for hunting etc., dirty jobs and lift would just be "in the way".
Looks like you are on your way.
The only thing you need now is to fill it up.
Look like it will work nice for your car. I got the siding on my addition yesterday.

Hi Andy,
That looks and sounds like it's going to be a pretty nice place to work on your Corvette.
I think I'm more than a bit jealous!!!!

Alan
onaqwest, U must be a detective or need to be! I've got some real good friends in the cotton farming business that own a local cotton gin. They had a flat bed gooseneck tariler load of left over C's and Z purlins and told me I could have whatever I wanted. All I had to order was the tin itself. Great to have such good friends. I'll update this one with pics until she's done. Just can't wait to get it complete so I can start on my engine compartment clean up project to try to even come close to resembling yours Mr. Alan!!
Here's a pic before I started the "vette cave". I'm also adding a drop across the back for the tractors, mowers and other off road stuff that will span the entire shop (16x46).

Yes Mr. Roger, We're full redneck down here. Those are some elk antlers from a trip to New mexico several years ago. My 13 yr old son has it plastered with deer horns now.
Hi Andy,
Since ONQST mentioned the steel... I'll note that the steel roof framing bearing on 6x6 wooden posts is a no/no in most locales.
A small fire that wouldn't cause serious damage to a steel framed structure burns the posts and the roof collapses.
The chance of this happening is very small, but....
Regards,
Alan
Seems like some nice work you're doing there. I'm about to improve my garage but since I have quite little free time in the near future, I guess I'll not be able to do much this Summer. Oh well... At least gotta make some more room to make it easier to work on the car during winter.
got another friend in the garage door business. That opening is 8 ft wide by 7 ft tall. He's got me an insulated garage (not roll up) for $200 installed. He's going to put it in next week on his way to Memphis.
Getting closer to completion. All electrical complete. Interior still needs one wall. Should have all doors installed within the week. Last will be to install flooring.
Hey Mr. Roger,
My family got me the fan for Father's day since I was always out there working on the vette. This new area will have A/C. It gets HOT down here. By the way, I installed the new headlight switch and all seems ok but I haven't completely reassembled everything (back not ready for that yet haha).
I know just what you mean, I'm in therapy now for low back. Willcox is also fighting some really serious back problems.
Are you satisfied so far with the results of your surgery ?

I can see your a big Corvette fan ..
Your project looks great.... turnin a bit green here ..
Yes. I am very satisfied. Went through some terrible pain the first night after but all good from that point on. Today marks 3 weeks since surgery and the last 2 days I have felt better than ever. Thansk for asking. I'll be back 100% in a couple weeks. Got a bow hunt planned for mid Oct in KS that I WILL attend.
