I know what the guy meant, but I thought burning tires was pretty heavy on air pollution. I know I saw a fair amount of thick smoke from the electric car.
I'm just nit-picking. It's neat, but I don't think I could own one. Besides, there's a plateau that can be easily hit and then you're at the end of the line. What do you do when you want to go into the 8's in the 1/4? (where my Chevelle will be)

As to the sound, I've got sidepipes and love them but there is something sorta cool about being quick and silent.

Then, once we do away with gasoline burning cars, we 'll get rid of plastics, lubricants(petro based), cosmetics(don't tell my wife), and the numerous other things oil is made from. We'll be wind and solar based. Until a calm, cool day with no sun, then, fire up the power plants again.

Good for him! Yes, electric motors produce higher torque on start-up. Let's see what's in an electric motor....gee, copper windings, bearings needing lubricant, lots of machined, expensive parts that wear with use(like everything else).
Finding an alternative fuel when there is plenty under our feet just doesn't make sense to me. Call me old school.
