What is a "Muntsi" transmission?

"1975 Corvette Stingray. Engine in great shape!
Lockout muntsi Four speed transmission. (lockout Muntsi = You lock reverse so you can't go into reverse. Mainly used for Racing purposes. Since reverse is right next to first gear there's no accidents while racing.) It's ready to rebuild and drives perfectly otherwise! It's a project that anyone can finish!

When I was a kid our family used to drive by the Borg Warner factory in Muncie, IN on the way to my uncle's home. My uncle worked there as a machinist.

Hi Bats,
I believe it's a misspelling.
I think it's spelled MUNSTI.... It was a special transmission George Barris made for the custom he made for the T-V show THE MUNSTERS.
You remember that car/trans....right?!?!

I don't know BATS, you may want to jump on that one for your project. You're probably not going to find one with that unique type trans again.

Yup, one of them M24 "nut crusher" transmitters. Use to see 'em in Trans National races; you know, all them Camaros and such like with the acid tripped lightweight bodies!

I used to have a 78 vette with a lockout Muntsi.
Sometimes it used to get locked in the reverse and wont go forward unless you go under the car and unlock the linkages.

I think he meant MUNCHIE 4 speed, they tend to grind and growl a little, they just need a little thicker gear lube than Muncie 4 speeds run about 240WT should do it

I was born at Ball Memorial. Super T-10 in the 73. Saving the original M- 21.
