Got a new car on Saturday. Well it's a new car for me; 1970 Corvette coupe. found it on fleabay. the guy I bought it from just dropped it off on Saturday morning, and I had it apart almost before he left my driveway. Was pleasantly surprise that the birdcage was in pretty good shape. Just one small dimesized hole on drivers side. have to replace the windowshield so shouldn't be a problem to fix. was happy to find that it still has the numbers matching block and trans. biggest prob seems to be the radiator support and lower frame piece that will need to be replaced. needs 2 new doors. already started looking. stay tuned for progress. i don't know if i'll bring it back to orig state or resto-mod. plenty of time in the winter in Chicago. Check my album for pics. -Oct 20th 2009 new picsNew pics Nov 29th 2009

Did the 70 come from around Decatur?I just looked at one a few weeks ago,but the guy was nice, and all,but had waaaaay to much in the car,and his asking price was like double what I would have gave him.
Anyways...congrates on your new find.I( love 68s,but 70 is my birth year, and chasing a 70 convertible down up north a friend has.
I have the doors, etc. that you need.I am in Forsyth...right beside Decatur, and just picked up a couple projects Saturday morning too,so give me a shout.I have everything you could ever need for one of these cars,or access to them.

Nice find Casey. You'll have a lot of fun with that Vette. It'll look 10 times better once you get it all cleaned up. I would suggest not making it a resto mod since the #'s match. It will be worth much more in the long run.
We do need a lot more pics though and good luck with it.
Glenn
* Good to see you back Kevin. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me at some point for more parts.
Good find. I agree with GD70. Keep it original or at least maybe minor bolt on mods to your liking (wheels, pipes etc). From what we can see in the photo's it looks like a clean car. Good luck with it and have fun!
Kevin, welcome back stranger to the high side of the US.
im off today so i will post more pic,s tonight

If you don't have them yet, two must haves:
The AIM (Assembly Line Instruction Manual) was used by the workers on the assembly line.
The Chassis Service Manual. Both worth their weight in gold and will become your Vette bibles.
Also get all the free catalogs from all the vendors.

Hi Casey,
I looked at your pictures and the car looks like a promising project.
I, too, would like to see some pictures as you take it apart and work magic on it. Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Hi C,
I checked out your pictures. The first one is funny because it looks like the front of the car is sitting on the folded seat rather than jack stands.
The core support rust even traveled up to catch the hood hinges. It looks like the front of the car was parked in a lake.
Having Fun!!!

Alan

Looks like a fun project. The frame looks kinda rough. If you are interested I have a newly restored no rust frame available. Solid thruout, North Carolina frame, has been sandblasted and POR-15'ed, looks brand new. Let me know if interested.
