Default overide

it is a override for headlights to force them up or down if the regular system (through switch) fails

Actually it allows the headlights to be raised for washing, changing bulbs w/o turning them on.

If you are running at high speed & want to talk to someone raising the headlights will make it quieter.

Seems like all your other answers were just Guesses, the correct answer is. its designed to keep the headlights up when you shut of the car (with the lights on).Like in the winter. They would not like to pop up when they are covered in ICE

There are many definitions what it is for, but GM designed it just like the poster said above,to raise bulbs to replace without turning them on.

Thanks guys for all the information. However either the motor or the spring is not working for the passenger ejection seat. Can someone please provide a diagram so I can chase down the wires.

Thanks

Or...perhaps it is the trip odometer reset **** (which sits next to the vacuum bypass switches). You pull it down and turn it to reset the trip odometer.

Maybe a trip odometer reset on earlier C3's but 80's had the **** in the speedo itself, sticking out of the gauge.

It's in the AIM; the section following installation of the flux capacitor.

7T1vette my friend, the trip reset works the opposite. It's spring loaded and you have to push it up and turn to reset...and turn...and turn.
