I really never put mine away for winter storage and only drive it when it's dry and the roads are salt free.
Look at this way, now you can do all those little projects you put off during the summer so it wouldn't have to be off the road.

We've had hard freezes and snow here in Minnesota already, so I prepped our '80 early. My wife was watching and asked, "Are you sure we need to put it away already?"
