Default Trailing arm question

Can someone tell me what a fair price would be to have a shop put new bushings and bearings in my trailing arms? They are out of the car, and I would just drop them off.

Done, or done properly? Big difference.

Done properly at a reputable Corvette shop, not an average mechanic.

I just had VanSteel in Clearwater, Fl, rebuild mine. New bearings, bushings and Stainless steel parking brake hardware. Looked like new when they were finished. I think VanSteel has been doing trailing arms and other suspension products since the 1970s and are nationally recognized.

They are a supporting vendor on this forum and have a website: http://www.vansteel.com/. When I e-mailed them with questions they responded within a few hours.

The only other thing I would recommend is to call around till you find a local shop that is familiar with C-3 Corvette alignments. Ask them if they have the T/A shims available for the alignment. The shims are not something that a lot of shops keep on hand. If the shims that came out of yours are rusted or banged up from previous alignments you may need to buy a new Stainless Steel shim kit to get your alignment done.

Hope that helps

Default Bair's Corvette

Go to Bair's Corvettes web site . They are in Linesville Pa. and very nice people to deal with. Talk to Brian. They treat you like family even if they don't know you and most important, they do top quality work at a great price. They will completely rebuild your trailing arms and deliver them right to your door.

I think that is one specialty of GTR1999. I think that WAS his name here till we unfortunatly lost him. He knows his stuff for sure anyway. Maybe experts like that who contribute so much to a forum like this should get "vendor credits" for thier efforts? And not be kicked out or ran off from here. I think more people come here for what people like him have to offer more than do for what ever these vendors offer (Wilcox excluded of course)

I took some trailing arms in trade awhile back. The arms are brand new GM arms. The bearing assembly's were "supposedly" rebuilt but were "slip fitted". We will be in S Florida Jan 1 if your not in a hurry. If your interested I can slide them apart and check them out along with checking the axle flanges for runout. If you are interested I'm sure we can come up with a fair price.

I don't know if he got kicked off. I know he does chime in from time to time.

I know he is on the other (digital) corvette forum. You can slide over there and ask him. He has some great diy threads.
