Default 4.5 backspace

Will a 15x8 wheel with a 4.5 inch backspace fit an otherwise stock 72.

I cannot find the wheel i want (ansen sprint) with anything other than a 4.5 BS. I know that less than the stock 4 inch BS needs a spacer but what about when the BS is more than stock by half an inch.

thanks

Actually it is the other way around. The more the backspacing, the greater need for spacers. That said, depending on the diameter of the wheel and the width of the tire, you may not need a spacer for the additional 1/2 in of backspace. The first thing that hits is the parking brake cable bracket. that can be moved to the top of the a-arm if needed.

4.5 should barely clear... might have to move the emergency brake.... but one other issue is your leaf spring coming close to the tire wall....

i have 20x9 and i clear the spring only because i have a larger wheel...

FWIW:

The 15" rims on the rear of my 69 have a 4" backspace and there's no more than a quarter inch space between the rim and the spring.

hmm, that sucks. i really like the sprints but i really dont want to deal with spacers and moving parking brakes etc etc.

i wish i could find a set that has the stock 4" backspace and be done with it.
anyone know of any in a 15x8

american racing has their ansen sprint line in a 15x7 wheel that comes in a 4inch backspace but i really dont want to go to a skinnier wheel. it has the stock 15x8 rallys on it now.

I think I finally found what I was looking for. an ansen sprint look alike that comes with a
4" backspace.

they look like the old style slot mags, mirror finish with clear coat, 4 inch backspace so clearance shouldnt be a problem and the price is great. anyone ever heard of the company before.

he's going 15"... his issue would be the tire wall to the leaf spring..
