Body Dolly Dimensions
Someone asked me about the WOODEN body dolly that's in some of my pictures of my 71's body. So here's the plan I drew to build it. (I prettied up the drawing on Thursday.) A wooden dolly was my best opportunity since I don't know how to weld.
The main info I can pass along are the center-lines for the up-rights that position them very close to the body mount bolt's center-lines. This info can be used for a steel dolly's up-rights too.
The dolly was stiff enough to move the body on, strip the paint and refine the seams. The fellow who painted my car believed the body needed to be back on the chassis to set the doors and hood, align the body panels, and set the gaps, so that's how it was done.
The large wheels from Harbor Freight were cheap and made it very easy for one person to move the body around.
Once I had taken the chassis information from the CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL, FRAME SECTION, page 2-7, and drawn the plan, it was an easy Saturday morning's job.
I hope it helps someone!

Not to be overly dramatic but lifting the body changes EVERYTHING. You have to know what lies ahead and the route you're going to take.
IT"S BIG FUN!!!!
