Detailed Engine Bay for 76
Hi from across the pond.Have any of you guys carried out a detailed engine bay together with photos you can put up here.
I'm halfway finished in the engine bay together with de-greasing and painting the front chassis with POR15 gloss black.
Undecided on the finish in the engine bay though. I have painted the engine Chevy orange and removed the manifolds and painted them with POR 15 manifold grey paint.
Undecided about chrome bits, air top, rocker covers, etc.
I have had 'her' for nearly 29 years and is totally original apart from S/S/ exhaust system made to manufacturers spec. here in the U.K.
Be great if you guys can post some pics up of your engine bays
Most of the work is in the prep. Meaning removing all dirt, grease, sludge, and of course ANY rust whatsoever. If you don't have a sandblasting cabinet it would pay to have someone do it for you if you can find someone in your area reasonable.
I painted everything but some choose to Powdercoat which is what I am doing with the 65 I am building. But the pics below is nothing more that decent rattle cans. replacing things like Vacuum Hoses and re-wrapping Wiring Harnesses with new tape makes a big difference.
Good luck:

I filled the gaps in my firewall with bondo first. After sanding I sprayed Dupli-Color primer & engine enamel in gloss black.....

I wanted a stock looking AND modified engine bay, so I had stock parts chrome plated. I found a used pair of L-82 valve covers that I had plated & that helped a lot. I removed the washer fluid bottle & lines to clean things up. I had my air cleaner base & fan powder coated in gloss black. I ran the headlight door vacuum lines under the brake booster to hide them.........

Have fun '76 brother.........
I have taken my a/c out as it's normally cold here. Any one know where to terminate the pipes?
Will take some photos and put them up a bit further down the road.
Cheers.
