Hello
Does anyone have a rear window storage tray to a 1969 corvette?
Think the tray is the same on 1968.
I would like some nice pictures on it and the measurements on it so I can make my own mold and make some in fiberglass, and picture on the brackets.
Please Pm me if u can help me
The latch is just a bent strip of metal with a plastic '****' on it. You lift the '****', which pulls the detent on that metal strip from under that panel allowing it to drop. Lift it back up and it snaps over that detent to hold it in place.
I did find that on fleabay, but who pay US $1,150.00 for that. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-...Q5fAccessories
That is why I need some help from all the nice forum members that have one tray and can take some picture on it and take the measurements on it so I can make my own mold and make it in fiberglass.
Hi C3C4,
If you have the ability to make a mold would you consider making the trays out of pressed fiberboard as the originals were? I'd think there'd be some interest in these trays from other early car owners.
Regards,
Alan

WRONG---the 68-69 latch is spring steel with a metal handle screwed to it with raised lettering that says "rear window storage" As for the other guy, cheaper and easier to buy one than make molds and form and such--JMO
Well, if you did have a "rare L88/L89" '68/early-'69", you would want THAT window storage tray and not just any ordinary tray from a non-L88/L89 Vette, wouldn't you???
Hi BB,
I didn't look at the link at first, but now I see you're right.
The L-88/L-89 cars must of had special trays to fit the special rear windows those cars had because of their ultra-high speed capibilities.

Alan

I thought the L88 L89 tray looked different, but didn't know the back window was different for those options. What was the difference from the standard window?
Glenn
Hi Glenn,
As I understand it the high speed would cause the window to be sucked out and it had a little parachute that opened as the window bounced off the police car that was chasing the L-88/L-89.
The tray had a special indentation to store the parachute in. ALL the ORIGINAL windows and trays were stolen, that's why we NEVER see them anymore. They're all stored in an old missle silo and will come on the market when the demand drives the price above $25,000. The thieves are just waiting for the special window and tray to be added to the Interior Score Sheet for 68-69 judging.

Alan
c3c4vette, mine has not been in the car for years. If you need more pics send me a PM and I'll email pics to you sorry about the upside down pic but I'm sure you can rotate it

WRONG. 68's are just a spring steel latch without the lettering on it. In fact, if you don't look close, you would not even notice it in the car. My rear tray was hacked up at one by the previous owner(s) to install speakers facing down in the back of the car. Ohhhh the 70's...... Thankfully the rear tray can still hold the rear window.
