IS there any companys that sell the battery compartments? going to do work on my friends 70 . car is real nice, born with drivetrain. problem is the bottom was damaged at some point in its life and a hunk of plywood painted black and some caulk is the bottom of the compartment. i want to cut it out and reglass a new one. been looking for a junked one for some time no luck any ideas?
Corvette America, Willcox, corvette central, quite a few. problem is once you get on these sights, you can't help but look at other parts spending more.
I wasn't able to find battery buckets on any of those sites, or any others. When I got my '69, it had already been re-glassed. The problem is the battery is just free-floating inside right now w/ nothing holding it down. I'll have to rig up something to hold the battery still.
It looks like they put something at the bottom and then laid the glass on top of it. May be a cheap option if you have any patience and glass skills.
Eckler's does have the hold down and hardware kits that "include under car plate", which I assume is a piece of support hardware to prevent fasteners from pulling through the 'glass.
thanks guys, i am very good at glassing but i was hoping to find a junker and cut it neatly. reglass the splice. these guys sell every body part but the battery compartment. my friend is real fussy and the the fix someone did drives him nuts. glass to glass is very strong if preped the right way. i have searched all the junk piles at carlisle corvette never found one in 2 years
