Default Thankyou Lars

Hi all,

I would just like to say thanks to Lars he has made my corvette SOOO much better!

Most of his Quadrajet tuning info can be found here: http://corvette.wikia.com/index.php?title=Intake

Couple of things I found along my journey:
- as Lars says 9 out of 10 (probably more like 99 out of 100) carb problems are actually ignition problems, make sure your whole ignition system is good before touching the carb.
- fix all vacuum leaks before trying to do anything, if there are ANY vacuum leaks you are just wasting your time.

Info about my car: stock 350/300 auto car had a dreaded holley re-manufactured Quadrajet on it when I bought it. After ages of searching (and some $) I found a matching number unmolested quadrajet (although you really don't need a matching number carb this was just me being pedantic any unmolested quadrajet will do) and installed all the correct metering rods (primary/secondary) and main jets. Tuned it up using Lar's FAQ.

The car is like night and day, it has a set of highway gears in (2.73's) I always blamed these for the car's lack of performance....WRONG......the car drives and sounds (hooker side pipes like an animal now....I am so happy, and amazed, I won't be contemplating an efi conversion anymore just driving and enjoying.

PS: Plus my gas mileage has improved out of sight! something like 18-20 mpg city (no heavy traffic though) driving up from 10-12 mpg (the old carb was using horrific amounts of idle screw adjustment to counter vacuum leaks, making the mileage suck big time, the car would literally drive itself off the amount of idle screw adjustment it used to have, I would not need to touch the accelerator).

Plus as a side benefit I now understand how the mystical Quadrajet works.

LARS

No off-idle stumble? That one has me puzzled and annoyed. Accelerator pump is new. Once underway the car runs fine.
