I'm not sure, but I think Mopars spin backwards from Chevys. You would have 3 reverse gears and 1 forward. Why not just get the 3 2 barrels for the 350?
You could, but it would serve no good purpose. It's not like SBCs are rare and there's not, at least from an archeteture perspective, a great deal of difference between a 340 Mopar and a 350 Chevy. If you were to do a crossbreed, you'd be better served by something like a GN turbo Buick engine or a huffed and puffed Ecotec. And if all you want is a Six Pac, then follow the suggestions above.
As a kid, I had a 'buddy' that tried to talk me into jumping off a roof. I didn't do it....you shouldn't either. The 340 6-pack is a nice engine; it belongs in a MOPAR.
I like my 327 its 11.5 comp humpty hump cam,400 hp it also runs 64cc world products heads. this eng was built to pull 66 chevelle the guy spent 5k on it and changed his mind so I bought it for 1k.I also picked up a old school 6 pack for it.I ran against a newer mustang and took first round on the second round he got by me on the end and said he was at 9pnds of boost to get around me .I was hitting a little over 7000 rpm I felt good about my 327. I also have a 69 512 4 bolt 427 I think I am going to stay with my 327 and sell 427.
Go ahead,if you enjoy a lot of hard work for absolutely no reason. The best part would be after everything is done, you get to pull out that POS 340 again to rebuild it after it spins yet another bearing...
Tell your friend to buy a K car and put it in that.
I hate mopars. Bought my first one a few years ago. It was an '07 Caliber AWD. At 58,000 miles the transmission started slipping. Did a little research and the CVT transmissions can't be repaired. You have to replace the whole thing at $4000 a pop. Traded it in on a Pontiac. Won't make that mistake again.
