I just went through this hassle.
Upload your photos to photobucket web site (free)
Copy the right photobucket "Http:// link" for posting on forums (photobuckets has different links for different purposes, this tripped me up a couple of times!)
Make your post and click on insert image
paste in the photobucket link for forum posts
preview post to make sure it worked
then submit reply.

The info from 20m and Brad is right on.
I'll only add that some times I also need to click on 'copy' in my tool bar after clicking and highlighting the 'img. code' under the picture on Photo Bucket.
It's really easy and quick once you get a little practice.
