Default Rear interior light

Ok here's an easy question...

I'm replacing the carpet in my '71 coupe and can't figure out how to get the rear light out. I don't see any screws, so i'm assuming you just pop the clear plastic lens off. Before taking a screw driver to it and possibly breaking it i figured i'd ask here to see if there's a trick for getting this thing off.

Well, well, well.... Others having the same problem I did. Yes, you have to pop the lens cover off. BUT, you don't want to crack that old, hard (used-to-be flexible) plastic. Once off, you can get to the screws. I know there are 'tangs' on the edges of the white plastic lens; but I can't remember [for sure] where they are. My recollection is that they are on the upper and lower edges very near the sides of the lamp housing [which makes it harder to bend the plastic]. Get a couple of small flat-bladed screwdrivers and stick them {on both sides} between the lens and housing about 1/2" in from the sides. Then pry them together by raising the handles until the top edge pops out. {Don't forget to firmly cross your fingers!}

The lens pops off, exposing 2 screws...UPC 12 C6 in my 72 AIM...

Just squeeze the lens gently and it will pop out. A replacement is very cheap should it break..

YES...upper and lower...press...break...replace...sorry !

I couldn't find a source for just the lens cover. I think you had to buy the whole lamp. And, I was successful at removing it without breaking the lens...so you should be able to, also.
