I know we've all seen the grease pencil marks on our fiberglass and frames, but this was a new one on me. I'm freshening up my original '71 350 and getting ready to mothball it, and during the cleanup I noticed my block was marked, seemingly with the same type of grease pencil as we see elsewhere on the car. Both sides of the block were marked like this, and it corresponds with the "CJK" block stamping on the pad. Looking closely, the markings under the paint are yellow. I'll just paint over what's here, but thought I'd share this since I haven't seen it before. Anyone else seen these?
I also thought it was interesting to see the sloppy way the engine was painted - obviously from the top pointing downwards, as lots of "shadow" areas were unpainted.
Hi BSP,
I found the engine suffix on my 71 350/270 also. CJL I was surprised how well preserved it was, and how the crayon (paint stick?) stood up to the paint and oil.
Regards,
Alan
