The newest (latest) 27L Steel Blue '75 I have located is an F03 build date, which translates to March 3 1975.

The OP stated that he has documented '75s painted 27L Steel Blue built October and November 1974 and February 1975.

Add March 1975 to the list.

Well makes a 6 month spread, which is certainly longer than originally believed. But still only half the year. Very odd.

I also heard that there are NO L-82 Steel Blues. Only L-48 and that the color was offered as a sort of "compensation" for unavailability of the L-82 for that time period. Could be all BS.

It is BS -- at least the "compensation" part. In 1975 Chevrolet had difficulty certifying the L-82 for emissions. Certification came late and the engine was released for production late. They first showed up in the car on or about March 20. By then. Steel Blue was done with, for whatever reason.

Roger that. So it is true there ar eno L-82 steel blues, but no correlation between the color option and the engine availability.

Years ago, a friend had a steel blue / silver interior coupe that he had ordered new. The story he told was that the car was on hold because he had ordered the YJ8 alloy wheels. The dealer contacted him and told him they had been notified that the steel blue color was being dropped and he would need to choose between the color or the wheels. He chose the color and got the car with rallye rims. The dealer got a set of YJ8 wheels for him when they became available. Wise decision I thought because the car was beautiful and really stood out against others of that time period.

Default 75 Vette

My 75 with a birth date of January 12, 1975. Console indicates L48. Unfortunately a previous owner changed the color. Shame I would have liked Steel Blue.
