Does anybody know exactly how many 78's were built with the third brake light over the bubble? Or if there were any. My 78 has one and it looks very original... Info please.
Have you all ever seen one on a 78? besides mine... It was there when I baught it. Im the 4th owner. The second and third owners both said it was there when they baught it also. The first owner has yet to be tracked down. I fear he is no longer with us.

Can you post a pic? Your profile has several pics but all are of the front.
Ill take some pix of it in the morning and post them then. I have a couple but they cover the whole back end of the car. ill take some close ups of the light. its up high. over the bubble. i mean i like it, thats probably the only way people see me hit the brakes. It works great. Someone just told me once that it was original, that there were only so many with the add on. And i thought, if it's not original, someone did a damn fine job of making it look original.
how can anyone believe that is factory. I am sorry but you people need to do some more reading and do your home work better. if I was a teacher I would give you a failing grade for this. NO CAR BEFORE 1985 HAD A 3rd BREAK LIGHT. I bet if you dig you will find a bunch of cut wires and look at the lenses you will have a DOT date of 1985. that light looks to be off of a 85-89 vette

If I were a teacher, I would fail you for spelling and capitalization. Who believes this is factory? The OP was wondering about it and it is a clean install so he is going to take some more pictures. Sorry we can't all be as intelligent and well informed as you.

I was born in 84 and do not remember when all this stuff came out. but what I did do in my spare time read up and learn as much as I could on just about any Chevy/ GM car made from the mid 50's on up. I may not know everything but there is a lot of key things I do know on how the any car got to where they are today. its research and common sense goes a long way in the old car hobby. if you believe everything a seller tells you about an old car I got some beach front for sale
There was never any C3 that had a third brake light from the factory. GM would not put them on if the feds did not require them. I was around then and I can guarantee you that is not a factory piece.

Well, excuse me for just asking a question. I'm sorry I'm not as informed as you apparently are on the illuminating mechanisms of old cars. Before you insult someone's intelligence, take the time to rid yourself of your own ignorance. I'm sure you can read. And I congratulate you for being able to do so. I, too, can read. While you may be a whole three years older than me, I assure you, your grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization errors remind me of my cousin. Who is in the third grade. I was simply asking a question as to where the light came from. I never said that the seller told me it was original. I said someone I know... who collects Corvettes... said it may have been possible. Let this be a lesson. Don't judge others based on your own ignorance.
And to those poking fun at my emblems: I'm sure you also have been in a position, when restoring your vette, where you hit a snag and have to hold off on the little details. Did you not see at the top of the picture where it says "Here is my 78 ROLLING PROJECT"??? I calculate not. So please, if you don't know... Don't say anything. Again, don't judge others based on your own ignorance.
