Out of all the cheesy body flair jobs I have seen, what you are doing is by far the nicest out there. This actually looks awesome already. Will look clean and proportional. Love it. Must be weird to take the knife to a good straight body panel and carve it up.
Dude, you have my total attention since I'm on that same path with my '77. Would you mind sharing some shots of your wheels and give us some numbers? (rim widths & backspaces, tire sizes).
This is going to be a killer vette. Nice work!
Fabbed the piece for the gap from the '73 - '74 bumper, but the bumper isn't glassed in yet.
Glassed in the gills and hung the fenders.
Wheels and tires have landed and the fenders mounted.
Next I'll be cutting the exhaust outlets and glassing in the rear, nose and bonding strip seams.
Great project! PLEASE share details of how you made the piece to fill the front bumper to body space. We're doing this exact thing on our '77 ('73 cover) and I would really appreciate any advice.
Also, what are you doing with the front fender "gills"? This is an area that I have seriously considered changing up.
Thanks in advance for any advice / suggestions you may have.

Thanks CVO, but I can't take the credit. Others have blazed this trail ahead of me and I'm learning from them. Being as I'm learning as I go it's definitely taking some cajones to cut things up.

Thank you RBird. I'm keeping the wheel design under wraps until I get further along towards completion . The rears are 18 x 12 with a 5" backspace and 335/30's and the fronts are 18 x 10 with a 4.75" backspace and 285-35's. Trailing arms are stock...

Thanks Adam. I created a mold and glassed around the mold. It's basically consists of top and sides and helps maintain the center design line. I'll add pictures in a bit. The gills are my stock '77 grafted onto the aftermarket fenders. I thought about grafting the '69 style, but decided to maintain the '77's.

Thanks! I would really appreciate any advice / photos on this. I just need to round up the grills and turn signals for the '73 bumper cover, and I'm ready to dig in.
Brother, You've don't some top-notch work! Thanks for sharing the pics and the progress of your project. Keep us posted!
Thanks HP!

What material did you use to create the mold?
Adam
Adam here are some pics. I cut up the old rubber bumper and used it with release tape for the mold.
I cut the exhaust holes out of the rear panel and glassed in surrounds to mount the trim from a '69.
I created a shelf to hang and mount the rear panel.
Also created strips to bond the sides.
Dished the fender bonding area.
Glass...
Epoxy filler
I had to fabricate mounts to accept the '74 grills and license plate bracket since the '77 inner bumper supports don't have the same provisions as the '73-'74.

Looks really good. Looks like you figured out the mounting of the front grills. That is pretty much what I did and it seems to have worked well.
this is starting to get good. :-)
