Would you use interior upholstry "dye" to change the color of your steering column? Do any of the major parts suppliers carry regular paints that match the interior codes?

With the new technology today, I don't think there is any color paint, guys can't make. I used the Corvette America dye on my steering column, and it seems to be holding up fine. But if you take a sample part to a paint shop, I am sure it can be match.

If you read any of the other posts on painting an interior, you will see nearly everyone reccommends to NOT PAINT an interior. Use a vinyl dye instead.

I am in the process of researching the best DYE for my interior......

Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents.

For metal parts, use paint. For plastic/vinyl/rubber/leather parts, use dye.

It's also not "paint". It is an "elastomeric coating". They can call it whatever they want. It's thin [like a dye], it bonds with the surface [like a dye], it recolors any color with any other color in no more than two thin coats [like a dye], it doesn't fill in surface grain no matter how many coats you put on [like a dye], and it doesn't peel or chip off the surface [same as dye].

If it walks like a duck and quacks like it duck...
