This seem almost too silly to ask - but ask I will...
I baught my 72 a little over 2 years ago. There was one thing that drove me nuts when I first got it - the stupid drivers side floor mat. The mat, where my left foot would go, would crunch up.
The mats were not original - they where the cut pile 'Stingray' script type, I think they had been in the car since it was restored in 97.
I got some flat bar, and JBWelded it to the mat, and that pretty much flattened it out.
Well...now I just got some new mats from Keen, and it's doing the same darn thing! Is there a flaw with these things, or am I doing something stupid?
I have floor mats that are shaped to match the contour of the drivers and passenger side floor. They are not flat but have back and sides. I think I bought them from Ecklers a couple of years ago.
Crazy as it sounds, the C3 has a design flaw that the C4 also had but through new design, the C5 is much different. In the C3 you have to get in right foot first, then sit down and pull your other leg in, and of course it now has to squeeze itself forward. And in the process your shoe drags on the floor mats. In the C5, the floor mats have hooks so the floor mats from being dragged forward. I think is something that a top quality mat might help to overcome.

this happens on my 77 also .....i have seen people put the snaps like you use for convertible tops on the carpets and mats to try to stop this.....i just every so often grab it and pull it down.....when my son was driving the car with me i ignored since it acted like a govenor and stopped you from hitting WOT
My problem is that everytime I open the door my fingers leave a little print on the chrome flapper part of the handle. I now have a white glove I put on first. Does anyone know if here is any kind of aftermarket pocket I can stick to the outside of the car to store that glove in?
Hi Matt,
Sorry, just a little joke!
Actually MANY years ago, when I was driving my car everyday, I had to adjust the mat almost everytime I got in the car. It really moved around a lot.
Regards,
Alan

Put some strips of velcro, the male strip with the little hooks, on the under sides of the mats. They will hook into the carpet and keep it in place better.

Thanks for all the suggestions - I think I'll give GD70's suggestion of velcro a shot. If that doesn't work, I'll JBWeld a little piece of flat bar to it.
