Default Rally Wheel Question

I just picked up an early set of 15x8 rally wheels for a song, but noticed something that I never had the last time I had these wheels....which was too long ago to think about.

There is a space (1/2" or so) between the back edge of the trim ring and the steel wheel. I have heard that there were some different offset issues and consequently different trim rings to accommodate this.

Should this space exist, and if so, about how much should it be or should the trim ring be close to the rim in back?

If your wheels are coded AZ, you have Corvette ralley wheels and should be okay. If memory serves, the offset is 4.25".

Hi GS,
The wheels I look at do have a gap between the inner lip of the ss ring and the web of the wheel. I believe that for 68-72 there were just 2 wheels, 7" in 68 (AG), and 8" in 69-72 (AZ). I'd say a gap of 1/4" to 3/8" is what I remember.
Regards,
Alan
