Replacing all the weathrstrip on a 79 and need for recommendations on weather-strip adhesive. I thought at one time you could get it in a container with a brush in the lid. Looking for something easier to apply than the tube.
I use the black. Best stuff out there. It is sticky and gets on your fingers. Get it off quick or your weatherstrip will stick to the window when drying.
3M black in the tube. Just use blue painter's tape to mask off where you don't want any adhesive on the body surfaces; then use a flat-edged strip of wood (tongue depressor, etc.) to spread the goo on the body surface so you don't get your fingers in it. Once your fingers are messy, then the weatherstripping and body panels will get messed up too.
.
. , the 3M part numbers are '8001 for the yellow and I recall '8011 for the black....makes one hell of a gasket sealer too....{ie} valve covers, intake gaskets, ect. where you want a permanent seal and be able to reuse the gaskets as in valve covers but only one side otherwise it will not separate without destroying the gasket
