Default Corvette market Weak????

Okay, so 1969 Small Block Convertible with Air, Red with Red interior, numbers matching, with exception to the Carb. Tilt, Tele, PO2 Hubcaps, luggage rack, no hit body, motor redone 4yrs ago, mechanically sound, just in rough cosmetic condition. Faded Paint, carpets, little guage clusterwork, but a riding and driving 1969. Since I have a wide range of Corvette collectors I would like your free pricing estimates. What is a good buy number? Here are a couple pictures.

This was on ebay recently with a very, very low BIN price. It looks like it needs a LOT of $$ in cosmetics, though.

About $16k-$18k sounds right; looks like it will need about $10k to bring it up to snuff, but you could enjoy it in the meantime.

It will hold its value in the long-run, but the $26k-$28k total investment you'd have in this one would buy you a rather nice '69 right now, especially if all you wanted was a base-motor car.

As an example, here's a recent ad here for a very nice '70 that was asking in that range:

I just completed a fully cosmetic restoration on my 69 roadster... $10k will not make a dent in that car... full paint, interior, engine compartment. Not close.

Final bid on ebay was 13.5k. I think if you wanted to sell it now. Put a "buy it now" @ 15k I think it should go for that easy. Yes I think the vette market is WEAK.

Somewhere between $20K and $25K for that car, depending on the condition of the mechanical systems. Nice car, red, looks like it has all the factory stuff on it except for the ignition shielding ($1000 for all of that and another $200 to put it on). No body damage, so paint can be touched up and buffed out. Interior can be redone for little money/lots of labor. If top is in good condition, that can bump the price a bit.

P.S. I think the valve covers are on backwards (L>R;R>L).

I agree; that '70 was beyond exceptional in condition.

But the market is what it is; here is another recent car virtually identical to this red car (apart from condition) that turned out to be a very good buy:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3s-...a-69-vert.html

So if this blue car needing very little if anything sells for below $25k, which seems to be a current price-point for base-motor chrome-bumper convertibles in great condition, then how much would the same car go for in this red car's condition? I was guessing $8k-$10k less.

I don't think it would sell for the same or more as that '70 or the blue '69, or at least sell quickly.

I agree. The color combo is better red/red (plus A/C car) so I think done it would bring high twenties to low thirties. It also has a larger market in its current condition because of the price point. Someone wanting to get into a bumper car with out the sticker shock could do a slow restro as money is available and since the drive train is good they could still enjoy it. I think your right on with current valve I would say 17k with a little wiggle room. Not bad for a 69 Vert with Air - Red/Red. You would be the only boy on the block with one, for less than a new Ford focus.

Last night there was a 327/350 Safari Yellow car sold at B/J for #36,000.00. Low option car with only front disc brakes and a Hard top.
The engine bay looked tired and there were some parts clearly jury rigged on the fuel line (post filter.) It also posessed a hurst shifter.
Add the buyers premium and it was $39,600.00. I also agree with the post about $10k not making a dent in these cars when it comes to a complete restoration. I know.
Best to the board, JP.

Yeah, but those prices are in BJ dollars, the bane of the existence of people having reasonable expectations about what their cars are worth...

Prices, even in BJ-$$$'s, do seem to have rebounded a bit since the last auction when even big-block cars were hard-pressed to fetch $30k.

a 69 convertible with air.. if the metal is good and numbers are correct ( big assumption) then 20-25K.
if it only got to 13 K on ebay, then someone knows something detrimental about this car that we don't.
