Default Rocker Panels Painted?

1973 Corvette, are the rocker moldings supposed to be satin black?

No, they will look like these.

I believe they are anodized and only the portion where the screws are would be black.

Hi,
I think painting the trim black really accentuates the 'coke bottle' shape of the body when viewed from the side as Paul's picture shows.

Alan

Alan,

I did that job in late 2008. It just seemed natural to me for the car. Purists will not like it but I do. For those/future owners who do not like it, take a rag with lacquer thinner and it comes off in 10 minutes (off the car of course, and lube those mounting screws). It's Krylon semi-flat. This is not a big issue.

Mine are satin black and - even though not original - I like the look against the white body with the black top.

Ya... only 68-69 were satin black. But a lot of peeps convert to that to accentuate the car's shape.

Judging only from the pictures on Ecklers site, it looks like '78-'80 while one piece unlike the 2 piece rocker panels of '68- '69 are very similar to the '68-'69, the '81-'82 was completely black.

I think I'm correct in saying the '68-'69 are the only ones that were 2 pieces.
