Not with those highway gears. I WOULD need to stress it to do it and "Not gonna do it, it wouldn't be prudent!" (To quote a great mercan)

I use my bike for the burnouts, it likes too.

well yeah....190hp and 280ftlbs of TQ. Not screaming but it can. I have a 2001 Blazer with 190hp and it's a heck of a lot slower than the old vette I used to have. Nothing is wrong with a little fun, don't compare that to screaming the tires off until they blow. We're really just teasing the OP.

And re previous post, my 81 had 2:72 gears and would still smoke them on occasion.

I am sure I have a gained a little on the original numbers, maybe not much, but I have true 2.5 inch duals no cat with 2.5 inch power chambered exhaust. All smog removed including EGR. It really seems to have more grunt than it came with. I am soon to be swapping carbs and dizzy and removing the computer as well, so I should be able to benefit from the dizzy being more tuneable as well. Someday, probably next year a true performance engine will go in it, with new gears and an overdrive....But for now too many stock parts and too little funds to break something....but someday...... And yes it will fire em up when called upon...

I'll worry about it at the time I sell it which is probably a long time off. I will probably rebuild it 4 more times before that. I have "devalued" the car long ago by the mods I have done but increased the fun factor multiple times. To me the LT1 was just boring in stock form. Lets see I have had 4 different motor builds, rebuilt the original Muncie once, installed a 5 speed sold that and now a 6 speed, I have had 3 rears in it and multiple suspension systems. None of them were removed because of abuse either. Not worried about value, the Corvette is a lousy investment unless it is very rare. I would not want to sell it to someone who makes it a garage queen anyway.

Thats not the point, do you think broadcasting that you beat your car everytime you drive it is a selling point ? Who knows what my car went through before I got it but everything has been replaced since I got it and it never gets beat. But someone just wanting to buy a vette and not have to put all of that money in it surely will stay away from a car like that.

What does this thread have to do with resale values of our cars? Are you saying we should never describe how our cars run when we push the gas pedal down for fear of rendering our cars worthless? Those secondaries in your carburetor were made to be opened once in a while.

Ok, ok....hang on a second there. You are making a LOT of assumptions here, and you know what they say about assumptions. You are ASSUMING that the OP abuses his car "every time he drives it". You are ASSUMING that a mild burnout in the driveway is going to "beat" the car into something other than a sellable vehicle. And you are ASSUMING that the OP is planning on selling his car here in the forum. Maybe he has NO intentions of selling the car. Maybe he WANTS to spin the tires and have a little fun. And maybe, just maybe, he does really care what others think about what he does to HIS car. I would certainly NOT classify his video as abuse, in the classic sense of the term. Are you saying that you have never done that? I would HIGHLY doubt that...I mean, seriously. And his car looks to be pretty nice, at least from the video he posted, so to say "someone just wanting to buy a vette and not have to put all of that money in it surely will stay away from a car like that is a bit over-the top, don't you think? I mean, as you yourself pointed out, you have no clue what your own car went through before you got it....so what makes your car and YOUR purchase so much better? Just because you had the money to replace every part on your car? Puh-leeaze. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, just because a guy wants to leave a little tire rubber in the driveway.

I don't think he means 3rd gear burnout. I think he means WOT through three gears (manual trans).

I really do not care what some dork does showing off how big of a horses *** he is if it doesn't endanger others,

Oh boy how lame, I guess if someone jumped off a cliff you would lemming up and follow...two wrongs dont make it right....speeding...when you have a loved one killed because some jackass dolt is speeding you might see how your comment comes off,

I know first hand of a street speeder who would make the excuse he was out in the country on empty roads....of course the biker he killed didn't see him coming.

This thread has reached the full level....

Just for the record: I never burn rubber in 3rd gear. And I only have 3 gears.

I'm reformed, I'm not going to spin my tires anymore nor am I going to go over the speed limit. I will also take off really slow as to not make it look or sound like I'm showing off. Heaven forbid that the 1% of the population that may or may not see it happening would judge me, that would hurt my feelings, then I'd be a horses ***.

And let's not forget....NO ONE will buy your car, because it's a thrashed, hot-rodded piece of crap...one that will require you to replace evey single part on it! *shudder*
