I am in the process of getting my 71 coupe re sprayed. At the mo it is bridgehampton blue original colour. I am leaning twoards candy orange with silver what do you think...Any suggestions for alternative colour combos or even pics of paint combos ? I was going to go candy green with silver stripes ! Any input appreciated. Just purchased a set of torqe thrusters 11 and a side exhaust kit. So Looking to finish off with a eye catching paint job
A guy i go to the gym with painted his jeep silver with orange (jurassic park theme). I would not do it. When I hear that color combo I cant get the image of walking out of the gym to see his jeep. I am also a fan of blue, so I like what you have. But its YOURS, in the end you need to figure out what YOU like. I do like the green color, but I like solid colors. Not a fan of stripes USUALLY.
I went to your profile page to see what mods, if any, were already performed on your car. None are listed. So, other than the Torque Thrusters and side exhaust you are planning, just how original is your 71?
Any color change on an original C3 will hurt your resale. If you are concerned with originality and resale, repaint in Bridgehampton Blue. It is a beautiful color only available in 70-71, with only 1,417 units sold in 71 (according to my Corvette Black Book).
So, if you are not concerned with originality and/or resale.............go ahead and repaint it....RED!

Sort of hard to resist the urge of changing the color when you are about to do a repaint. If your car is close to correct and NOM keep it blue. If not paint it the color you want. It’s your car and it should be the color you want it to be. If there is any up side to the numbers not matching this is it. However Bridgehampton Blue is very nice
Just my thoughts
Scott
the car is pretty much stock black vinyl interior, air con, auto, just did a radio upgrade(still have oridinal) and fitted a power steering kit new starter and new master cylinder changed front calipers went with o ring instead of lipseal. Have documents back to original owner including protect o plate and warranty. Even have the original owners name and address tried to contact but to no avail would love to trace history number of owners etc.

That car is too nice to change from the low production paint color. when it was time to paint my car it was a clear choice to return it to steel cities gray. like you ... I have a low production color but it certainly isn't a sort after color in terms of desireability compared to your blue or any blue for that matter. and also because.... my car was in very good condition and mostly unmolested and it is in as much original condition as I need it to be,minus the small personal touches I added . So that's why there was no second guesses to paint it back to SCG.
Yes I am leaning in the same direction now may keep it the same after all...Are those original seats in you own?

In 72, Targa Blue is the same color as 70 and 71 Bridgehampton Blue. Both are code # 979. There are 3,198 examples of code 979 in 1972.
I agree with Rickman and Hammadown that that color is too unique to change and will only hurt the value of an American Classic. BUT, it's your Vette, whatever turns you on!!
BTW, Hammadown,I really like your Steel Cities Grey 72 and enjoyed following your taking it back to SCG

No.... the seats are not original. they are stock 79/82 seats.I do have the original seats which are in exelent condition although they were recovered in leather by a previous owner. this was one of the ''personal''
touches I added to my car
