Default Will paint stripper ruin chrome?

I bought an original 69 front bumper off of craigslist. It's painted black, but it looks like the original chrome is still in good shape underneath. I carefully remove some of the paint carefully with a plastic knife, but it's a very slow process.

Just wondering if I use paint remover, it will ruin the chrome.

yes, the acid will etch the chrome. There might be a paint remover that is safe for the chrome but I don't know of any. And for paint to really stick to the chrome you have to etch the chrome, so hopefully the chrome is ok. If anything try paint thinner and continue with what you're doin.

Does he have a website? What are his rates like?
I may end up replating my original bumper.
