so - got the wiper blades. got the wiper door to "open". but i can't get the wipers to stay out on the windshield for access. i tried turning the car off mid cycle but they still go back into hiding. i feel so moronic. i went to do two simple things tonight (replacing a bulb, and replacing wiper blades) and was unable to do either!
When your sitting in the drivers seat, between your legs there is a small round **** protruding down from under the dash. Its called the wiper override control and its sole purpose is to allow you the stop the wipers in any position so you can service them. Twist the **** clockwise or counter clockwise and see what happens when the wipers are running. To the left and right of that **** are two plastic actuators and when pulled down, will raise the headlamps and the wiper door. Now, it is very possible that they may not be visable because someone with big feet may have broken them off. I did and replaced them.

i know about the wiper door and headlight pulls - i use them all the time. never noticed the middle **** but now that you mention it, i remember reading something about it. i'll try tonight. thanks!
**** is missing. great! but i see two wires hanging down near the hole that seem to be connected via some plastic connector thing. am i to assume that these are the override wires? if i attempt to separate them without disconnecting the batter am i going to fry myself?
As long as the ignition switch is off, you will be very safe. Just get a new overide switch and install it. Make it right. I wouldn't do anything less on my car. Actually have a spare that I bought yearrrrrssssssssssssss ago. Not for sale though.
thanks! i'll print this out and give it to my wife. if i get fried - she's coming after you!!!
If, you are really that apprehensive about it...just disconnect the battery...no juice, no shock! Just undo the Pos terminal...the car will be dead as a door nail.............
