I used Nason all the time for my black bases. Usually I am shooting another over, but as far as I can see it would make a good base for a base/clear job. It is Dupont, and I like Dupont, I shot HOK the last couple and have since went back to Dupont, since HOK is expensive and not forgiving at all, Dupont is easy to work with.
A friend of mine used Nason on a couple of his cars and hasn't had a problem, and they look really good. I'm going to use Nason paint on my '78 Z28. I already have it.
No such thing as bad Paint, just bad Painter's. The Guy's I know that spray Nason say they have some Clear coat. Very durable.
Marty.
There may be no bad paint, but the cheaper paints tend to have less solids. The only difference is they may take more coats to get coverage or they may flow differently, but you can adjust that with your thinner amount, usually less with a paint that has less solids in it. The volitility of Nason is fairly high as well, so ventilation is a must. But I agree a good painter can shoot anything and make it look good. And a bad painter can shoot good paint and make it look bad. Some paints are very unforgiving if not used properly as to manufacturers specs, such as HOK stuff, But Nason is very very forgiving....good stuff.
