Default New gas cap

Found this on Ratsports site, $75 US delivered from UK.
Fit in the gas lid emblem hole perfect. Has 3 set screws for mounting.
Just the right size, most other ones where to big.
I like it

It's something different. If you want something different for your car, its a choice. A visual difference. What good does it offer?

So, you have a $75 flip-lid fuel fill cap...which isn't connected to the fuel filler tube...and you lift the lid to remove the 'real' fuel cap; then you put the lid back down, open the flip lid and insert the fuel hose? Or do you still fill the tank in the usual way, but you have this looking thing on the gas door???? OK. I love the diversity of 'style' ideas folks apply to C3's, but.....

What is so cool here is I was just waiting for the first mullet to jump and I didn't wait long,
I know it makes some people feel better to try to make others feel worse...but in this case...Ahem.

This really makes me feel like I am shooting a fellow in a wheelchair but how in the world do I try to defend a flip top cap on top of the flip door???

When the other thread popped up about flip top caps I thought how cool for over 30 years I found these things to just spew "race car" on the street look, and in that other thread their were posers too, people who ran the 250.00 cap for "looks" and still had the stock cap in there to unscrew,

I planned mine out to be the real deal, a true flip it open to fuel up with no stock cap in the way ...anything other than that is posturing....and who the hell cares?

I mean really...so many things on many of our cars are just for "show" "looks" or silly bragging rights..High speed rated tires that never see past 90 MPH....so many engines built with many times the power that most here can handle or will use in the way they use the car.... cars built to the hilt and never seeing a track...the list goes on,

I guess what I am trying to say is the very thing you think is so very cool the next fellow might be laughing at but we are all vette people and should try to respect each others different tastes that keep this hobby from getting boring...

Bats, I'm shocked you can't get behind this.
I think it's kinda cool.
I wouldn't do it to mine, but I have no problem with it either.

You need to re read this line from my reply...
"I guess what I am trying to say is the very thing you think is so very cool the next fellow might be laughing at but we are all vette people and should try to respect each others different tastes that keep this hobby from getting boring..."

I am not against it....

I was referring to this quote:
"It really makes me feel like I am shooting a fellow in a wheelchair, but how in the world do I try to defend a flip top cap on top of the flip door???"

If I misunderstood you, I apologize.

Naw...I got all weird....esoteric and vague in my sarcasm....I can be really hard to follow at times....I support everything people desire to do to their cars....

Looks like the real thing and at a great price too! I like the 'style', but probably wouldn't go for it, BUT you like it and that's what counts. I have some items on my '77 that are not "as ordered" (ie. luggage rack) and I like it and I don't care what others think negatively (and I've had a few).
So, bottom line...Go with your feelings. Enjoy!!

Here is mine on my old POS beater...

While mine "is" the fuel cap the point is the "look" is the same....we drive by and no one would know the difference....
