Default justify 2X for SS inserts

my SS hooker side pipes should be arriving soon

need inserts

after checking the multitude of related threads, looks like the 2.75 Sweet Thunders are for me

they come in the standard coated steel or SS

having problems justifing the SS for twice as much

will the SS inserts out last steel? better the for the side pipes?

can anyone justify the SS inserts?

TIA, Paul

I would guess the SS ones would last as long as the pipes themselves. They would also expand and contract at the same rate as the pipes and should be esier to remover at a later date. If I'm wrong in my reasoning someone will correct me shortly.

Don't know about the SS, I have the 2.5 standard. I personally couldn't justify the cost. Also, the 2.5 is really LOUD (but I like it!). The 2.75 would almost be like running straight pipes as far as the decible level is concerned. Hope your neighbors like you.

I, too, like it loud. But don't want the officers bothering me, either. Mine is a 327, and with the 2.75 compared to your 454 with the 2.5, do you think the difference in loudness would be a wash?

I think you'll be alright with what you're planning. Keep us posted on how the install goes tho!
