Go with the U-Haul car trailer, not the 2 wheel Dolly. I used the U-Haul trailer when I picked up my Vette.

I, too, used the U-Haul auto carrier pulled by my Ram. Be careful and get the correct auto carrier. There is one that is lower and will allow your Vette to load without damaging the front end. I don't remember the specific unit number but be sure to ask.

The one I used worked great.

U - Haul is the way to go. Unless you have a friend that has a car trailer!!!. i was fortunate to have a friend that had a trailer which made it easier on me.

The U-Haul trailer that I used was impressive. Easy to load, and pulled easily behind the Dodge Ram 1500.

Uhaul worked fine for me too. I picked up mine in D.C. and towed it to northern Ohio. Pulled with a 2000 Durango with a zillion miles on it. Had no trouble at all.

I have used the U-Haul trailers twice to haul Corvettes. They are the best money can rent. Just be sure to get the one that a Corvette will fit on, it is lower on the ramp end. For $72/day with $10k insurance you cant beat it. Caution: dont try a one-way rental, it would be cheaper to buy the trailer. Get the unlimited mileage daily rental at you home town Uhaul dealer.

Penske also offers trailers (car transporters).

I find their gear is always top-notch and same or better priced than U-Haul. I'm not aware they have more than one trailer size and would expect the correct answer by contacting the local dealer.

Many satisfied U-Haul customer experiences here; glad that worked out for you guys. My experiences were nothing that happy and could just be the region you locate the equipment.

Offering an option, whatever you choose. Good luck and safe towing.

When I sold my 67 convertible the guy came from Georgia to Pa. with a U-haul and I sold a 69 convertible that went to Virginia on a U-haul. They are easy to use.

I tried my local Penske (actually three local Penskes) and they all said I would have to rent one of their trucks to pull their trailers. They even told me they put a lock on the trailer so it can't be removed! What a joke....I asked them how I would load my stuff into the truck if I needed to and they said I would have to load it then pick up the trailer. -Neal

i pulled the '77 about 1400 miles on a u-haul with an '05 F150, not a problem, even at 75-80...

it's an all steel trailer so it's about 2000 pounds by itself.

Have used U-Haul a couple of times, worked great, now I use my buddies. If the ramp angle is to steep a couple of 2x8 pieces, top one about 3 feet and bottom about 4 feet long work good. Place under the end of the ramp and it should change the angle enough so as not to damage the bumper. Tow safe.

Looks to me like the U Haul's longer distance from the axles to the tongue puts a lot of weight on the hitch and thus the rear of the tow vehicle. You might consider loading the Corvette a little farther back on the trailer or mayby even backwards to even out the load on the two trailer axles.
I rented a 16 foot long car trailer locally to bring mine from St. Paul Minnesota to N. Illinois. The trailer was configured so I could load the Corvette frontwards but still have the weight evenly distributed. Was lucky to have a family owned trailer rental place close by (R&P Carriages in Seneca, IL.) with reasonable rates so it only cost me $70 for 2 days and he let me get it the night before so I could leave early the next morning.

Nothing better than that; new owner and car bonding early is a plus.

Actually I moved to SC back in July, my vette was in storage in Ohio while my house was being built. Couldn't stand the thought of her sitting in that cold storage building and it being nice down here so I had to bring her home.
