looking for a red t top strap for my '71. found one that came out of a '78. is this the correct one for the car, or did they change them at all between '71 and '78? I realize the color may not be correct, but i will try to dye it
doesn't appear as though they have re-pro's readily available.
Hi Paul,
As 71C said the straps are Y shaped.
Each leg is about 23" long, the short leg to the buckle is about 3" long, and the adjustable tail through the buckle is about 11" long.
All the clips are the same. The buckle has a stamped logo of IRVIN with a parachute.
You can always dye your straps black since when the proper interior matching color wasn't availible black was used at St. Louis.
Hope what you have works.
Regards,
Alan

Corvel Corvette in Denver Co. has a red used one listed on Ebay, I just bought a used dark blue from them for my 73 with no problems, Ebay listing is #360114263896, phone # 303-777-2020 ask for Keith.
Thanks guys. I'm going to pass on the one for the '78 since it's not correct. I'll have a look at that ebay listing.
Alan, that's interesting that they used black on occasion when a matching color wasn't available.
I also need to get the footman's loop to connect the t top strap to.
were the two in the back the same size as the one in the center near the parking brake console? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-...#ht_1323wt_939
Hi Paul,
Yes, all the footman's loops are the same. There was a little spacer, about 1/4" long, (like a piece of soda straw), on each screw for the loops to keep the loop from disappearing into the carpet.
The color quirk was true for the roof panel bags too. Trim color matched bags were used until near the end of production when if a color ran out a black bag was substituted.
Regards,
Alan
Hi 71,
You beat me to it while I was typing and looking to see if I had a picture.
