Without pictures and a better description it's hard to say but I hope you know from reading information on this site , that it is very important to check the birdcage for rust, especially since the frame has been replaced. A vette that is fully disassembled could have a lot of parts missing and especially a 68 would be expensive to replace all of those one year parts, so just off of the top of my head I would say around six grand and thats coming from someone that loves 68's so not everyone would even put a value that high. Being a convertible or coupe would also mean a difference in value.
The later frame raises a red flag right there. It is possible the car was either wrecked badly enough to need a new frame(check for a salvage title) or rusted enough to need replacement.
More things to look for
Guys, here's the link. He's asking $4K. I talked to him this morning and will look at the car tomorrow. My son is 13 and i thought we might be able to get it back together for him before he's 16 (lol). I figure it doesn't hurt to look. The seller says that it was a daily driver until he cracked the frame?? I dont have a clue, but thought if it was cheap enough, I might be able to do something with it. Take a look and tell me what you think. he says he has all the parts in boxes. i saw his original add in a local trading mag a few weeks back and then saw it on craigs list last night.

Wow!
Unless you are retired or have VERY DEEP pockets....no way it'll get done in 2 1/2 yrs!
I got into a couple of "father-son" projects when my son was in his early teens... a 78 240Z, and a 78 FJ40 Landcruiser. Had fun, bonded, etc...but it really turned in to a "father" project as my son got involved in school, sports, Scouts (made Eagle BTW), then hormones and girls.....didnt really have the time or true interest in restoring an old car (from MY generation btw, not his)
Many stories of the best intentioned Dad's... few really play out.
Just my opinion, and I really hope you do it and it works!!! There might just be better candidates out there, however.
Also a 68 Corvette has a lot of "one year parts" you have to remember that, when you look at a project car like this (one year parts= many $ and hard to get used parts)
Unless he has A LOT of the parts you can't see in the pictures, it will cost a ton of money to restore it. The same thing applies to parting it out. So much seems to be missing,or not original, there won't be very much to part out anyway. If your looking for a project, save another couple thousand and find a complete project. Do a good amount of research on what to look out for on the older vette's in the mean time. I think this one has too many red flags to build as a project.

Calling Stan- Stan , are you watching? This would be a huge project, but it would make a great restomod, or Road Race replica. I would give it a close look.

After seeing the ad and pictures, I see an investment three times what the car would be worth when done. It's not even worth what he is asking. Keep looking until you find something more complete if you are set on a 68.
You could have this one done in time for his permit http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3s-...a-diamond.html All kidding aside that looks like one BIG project, but it would be very rewarding. You would never get your money if you sell it but I learned the hard way we don't love them for the $.
