I purchased the vehicle!
$5500.00
I checked for rust everywhere mentioned; behind the kick panels, under the frame, the kickups. I couldn't find any. The interior is original. The number stamped on the engine matches the vin. The dealer had said it didnt. I can tell that the altenator seems to be newer. Other than the added electronic ignition, I dont know what else to look for. The frame around the radiator is excellent. The dealer drove the car 40 miles to meet me and after i let it sit while inspecting it in a Sam's club parking lot, there was no oil drip. All the gauges work.
The negatives. needs a paint job, needs some glass work under the front. At some point when the car was painted, the key for the alarm system was glassed over and painted. The horns for the alarm are still there. The radio does not work. Not sure about AC but compressor is there but no belt. havent checked to see if locked up. Heater works, blower works, windshield wipers work but get hung up by door.
It was worth $5500 to me and Im going to have a blast fixing it up with my son!

Good luck and have fun with your son on this project. I am doing the same thing with a 71 for my 12 year old. I as well have a 69 that will someday belong to my older son. My older had a son a few years back so now I'm working on the wife trying to explain we need another Vette so the Grandson can have one someday too. Don't think she's buying it but I'm trying.

Your carburetor is likely no longer original but it should be a Rochester with a 70422xx stamped on the drivers side vertically on the rear pillar. Where xx is either 02 or 92 representing the base 350 200 horsepower motor. It ends in an even number to indicate the car is an automatic.
You appear to have an aluminum intake whereas the original intake is cast iron.
I doubt your distributor is original judging from the MSD ignition box and MSD coil and the rest of the MSD parts.
Your passenger side dash pad is missing at least one screw so you might run the A/C and heat and make sure they work.
The hood alarm switch is broken, you have a fairly new wiper door actuator but they did not replace the weather boot that covers the actuator rod.
I would be very cautious about the under hood wiring as it looks like it has been sliced, diced and spliced in several places.
There should be vacuum hoses going over the box on the left side of the firewall. They are feed lines for the wiper door as well as lines to connect to the vacuum storage tank under the left fender.
Depending on what has been done to the vacuum system, you have quite a project on your hands.
Good luck and remember there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum.

I look forward to the work. I can handle the vac problems and electrical as I've done this with the 69. You guys amaze me at what you can identify from pics. seriously!
Thanks,
andy

I'm sure you and your son will have a blast with the project...and good job getting is started early. Reminds me of that Allan Jackson song.."when daddy let me drive". Wish I had a son who wanted to roll up his sleeves. My 16yo daughter just wants to ride in it and look cool in front of her friends. She's had her drivers learners permit for about 4 months and I know she's gonna ask when she can drive the vette.....

enjoy!
