i am probably going to upgrade it all with speakers in the kick panels (i know the dash location isnt ideal) and or a 8in sub at some point, but i will see where this set up gets me for now. I was already informed by someone that this stuff is "all entry level" but frankly i dont need to blow my t tops off, i just like listening to my radio.
anyway i will post pictures of the install as it goes along. and again thanks for all the imput

Also i want to point out that Crutchfield has been awesome to work with, the shipped my purchase out the same day i ordered it, and they have been great!

Looks good.
You can install the 4x6 in the kicks. There should be only 1 set of front speakers for clean sound. A second set will normally muddy the sound.
You've already admitted you're not a purist and just want some decent performance. I predict with the speakers you've chosen and the fact that you're amping it all that you won't need to make any upgrades. Do a real good install and enjoy the sounds.
Did you happen to get an amp wiring kit to make this work? The nice thing about a C3 is that the battery is already close to where the amp will be so you don't have to go drilling holes anywhere.
Good luck with the install. Make sure to post pics when you're done. I'll be doing the same thing (plus a sub) in about 2 weeks.
Just make sure you use adequate sized wiring to power and ground the amp. There should be an open ACCY connection in the fuse panel for that; but you should also include a fuse or curcuit breaker in that power line, as well. The 'clock' power can be run to about any red wire that you can find.
well i have been slowly working on the install. I hope to have it finished up by Sunday.
old vs new
I am going to make that out of plywood, the speaker will be over to the right about an inch.
After making the box, i am going to cover it with vinyl, and dye it to match the interior.
i have been toying with the idea of dying the speaker grills to match the interior, but i have decided against it. As i think it will look not so good.
the 4X6 speakers went right in, and the stock grills fit great over them.
Bowers- I like the area you installed the amp. I was thinking of doing the same with mine. It seemed like a good clean spot without being in the way. How is the clearance with the passenger seat?

the passenger seat will hit it if it goes back too far. The seat can go back almost all the way however. I am going to install a stop on that seat rail so it doesn't hit it. That is very easy to do.
I look forward to your installation pics and descriptions. That package is hardly entry level....should sound very nice.
"Entry Level" is the head unit, set of speakers and amp of unknown name or design sold at Wal-Mart for $120.00.
Kenwood is a good brand, even their lower end stuff. Your stuff is far from being "Entry Level".
A C3 is a small car. As long as you're not competing with untamed exhaust drone and other road noise, that system will be more than adequate for your listening needs.

Be careful that you have adequate ventilation behind the seat. The OP has installed a modest amp which will most likely not get too hot. If you're installing something that will get hot you need good air-flow and behind the seat may pose problems (including system shutdown to protect circuitry).
I installed a 1000W beastie that warms up nicely so I was sure to position it on the back of the tub where the is high airflow (at least in my 79). No issues to date.

Ideally I would install there but in my case I purchased a custom fit enclosure that sits against the back wall. The enclosure holds two 6x9's and a 10" sub. I can't install an amp there becasue of the speakers and I can't install it on top of the box because I won't be able to use the shade then. I also don't want to take up the space where I put my t-tops so behind the seat may be my best bet.

i think it would be fine, there is a lot of space above and below the amp. The only place it gets tight is where the back of the seat shell gets close. But with the profile of the seat shell, the underside of the amp has plenty of room, even with the seat close.
I am not going to guarantee it, but i would feel comfortable mounting that amp behind the seat.
My amp has cooling fans, i see your amp lists them as "optional" see what that is about, if you are going to tax it, i would see about adding a fan

I was just looking to see if Crutchfield listed a cooling fan as an accessory but they don't. I'll see what I can find out.
