Default 1972 LT1 Value

Hello

I'm posting this question for a friend here in the NW.

He has a 72 LT1 Blue, original paint and all numbers matching coupe. Lots of options, PS, PB deluxe interior etc. It's not restored, and overall in very good original shape. I don't know the exact mileage but will get it if it helps. One unusual item about the cart is the the original owner painted the bumpers flat black (My friend is the second owner, and has owned it the last 17 years, I saw it right after he bought it).

The owner is just looking for a range from here to here kind of thing..... he knows that its tough top estimate an accurate value without seeing the car.

Any and all comments would be appreciated.

If I could afford it I'd buy it myself

Thanks

Rick

if he wants to sell it, he really must clean up the bumpers! Does the car have factory air conditioner? That was a very rare option with 72 LT1.

Have your friend get the car appraised.

Hi Rick,
Since LT-! cars are very desirable they are also very valuable. BUT, because of those 2 things people with the money to buy these cars have gotten VERY good at determining if it really is an LT-! and if ALL the proper LT-! parts are STILL on the car.
It could be a $15000 car or a $50000 car. LT-!s rust just like base motor cars. How has it been living all these years?
The only things we know is your friend says it's an LT-!, it's blue, and it has black bumpers.
EVERYONE"S definition of 'original' and 'numbers matching' varies.
Seeing some pictures would sure help you get some opinions.
Regards,
Alan

If it's a #3 car, with the potential for a #2, I'd say it's worth low 30's. But if it's a '72 A/C, I'd say it's worth a half a million $. That's an unbiased opinion, of course! hehe And if he's looking for some new chrome rear bumpers, check these out for $400 - http://southjersey.craigslist.org/pts/1697758219.html I remember seeing these listed for the past couple of weeks, so he's probably negotiable.

You've ask a very difficult question but haven't given very many details. Get a good description, post a lot of pics and you might get a good +/- $10,000 estimate. Without that the $15,000-$50,000 is probably as close as you'll get.

Too bad none of the Barret Jackson IDIOTS know this, they are all looking for forged "Protecto-plates" and other B.S.
