Default Need help changing a power window switch

I have a 1978 vette, my power window switch broke. Can someone please tell me how to change it? Thanks in advance.

Purchase the assembly instruction manual (AIM) or the chassis service manual. Either will show the switch installation.

Loosen the plastic shifter console -- don't forget the two hidden screws under the center gauge cluster, lift panel to get to the switch.

Remove the side console panel from the side of the switch you're replacing. The switch is held in by two screws that thread into the console. Remove the screws ,unplug the harness and replace the switch.

Default Power window switch

In most cases, you have to remove the seat on whatever side you are working on to get to the screws holding the side carpet strip in place. Not a big deal to remove the seat. Four capscrews and it's loose.

With seat and side strip of carpet out, you have visibility on the window switches.
